The region's port authority has purchased the iconic, old Hudepohl Brewery - the agency's first major move toward trying to remake Queensgate into a thriving industrial corridor.
The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority purchased the blighted and abandoned brewery at 801 W. Sixth Street for $400,000. The port also bought an adjacent property at 840 West Fifth Street for $250,000.
It's not been decided whether the port will demolish the old brewery.
"These have been blighted and vacant properties for years and will be repositioned to support industrial uses in the future," port authority spokeswoman Gail Paul said.
