Pesonally I prefer to buy the classics like Budweiser, with "Born On" dating. This guarantees your beer is fresh.
I live in Anaheim California. In California brewpubs can make beer
> on the premises and sell beer on the premises but not for "takeout."

You have a good thing going there. The only drawback is being able to carry enough growlers at a time to take you through the rest of the week.
