Wikipubs

Hi,

I've started a new wiki which you may be interested in, the project is to create a free, complete, up-to-date and reliable world-wide pub guide. You can visit the site at the following url;

The aim of the project is to provide a place where people can write articles on the experiences they have had at different pubs all around the globe. This will help people decide where the best places, and the worst places to drink might be. I'm located in Canberra, Australia and as such need as much input from others around the globe to get this project up and running..

so remember to add your local pub to the list at

Though this certainly could work on a worldwide basis, the concept has been around for a decade or more--see

for the North American version.

Kinda-sorta not really.

Last I checked, I have no ability to add a pub to pubcrawler, nor to edit any of the entries that exist.

With a wiki, I can create an article, edit someone else's, etc. It is a very different sort of information source.

*Yes, you do have the ability to add an entry, although there's supposedly an editor that will verify that your added entry actually exists. Unlike a wiki entry. And places that close, provided someone actually submits a "Delete/Change This Entry" form or whatever it is, will be removed eventually. I myself have personally been responsible for the removal of perhaps dozens of closed/fradulent entries on Pubcrawler, although it comes in my case from a long history with Pubcrawler (one of the top reviewers) and professional credentials. I have even managed to "smoke out" campaigns to inflate the review entries (sort of like adjusting Google hits to inflate your Google rating) or "stuff the ballot box".
*Yeah. Pretty much useless.

Hi Alexander, i haven't seen pubcrawler previously. I'm from australia, and as far as i know there is no site available that allows people to add, edit, insert pictures add reviews as desired for pub/clubs in australia as simply as wikipubs. This was one of the original reasons i started up the site, i've previously attempted other sites similar, however they require too much administrative overhead. I found that the mediawiki software is easy to use and familiar (thanks to wikipedia) and thus makes it easier for me administer the site especially considering the limited time i have available to work on it.

I also thought, why limit the scope to just australian pubs? as it is easy to use, why not open it up to everyone to add and edit as they please.

Thanks again.

Cheers, James.
