The West Riding Licensed Refreshment Rooms, on Dewsbury railway station and CAMRA Yorkshire Regional Pub Of The Year 2006, holds its

1st ever winter beer festival this weekend.

The festival runs from 1200 - 1200 Friday 1st December (today) and again on Saturday 2nd December. If there's any beer left, it will carry on on Sunday, too.

Beers on offer should be:

Glentworth: Columbus Gold 4% Durham: Nine Alters 4.3% Scattor Rock: Old Blossom 4.8% Acorn: Gorlovka Imperial Stout 6.0% Hambleton: Nightmare 5.0% Yorkshire Dales: Whernside ESB 5.2% Copper Dragon: Black Gold 3.8% Anglo-Dutch: Sarah Barnes Stark Raven Mad 6.0% Anglo-Dutch: Devil's Knell 4.8% Orkney: Dark Island 4.6% Hill Island: Dun Cow Bitter 4.0% Barefoot: Mellow Yellow ?,?% Wear Valley: Twilight Ale 4.2% Bull Lane: Nowtsamatta 4.5% Little Valley: Stoodley Stout 4.8% Consett Ale Works: Red Dust 4.0% Cairngorm: Trade Winds 4.3%

These beers should be available in the outside marquee.

Inside the pub should be:

Black Sheep: Bitter Black Sheep: Riggwelter Timothy Taylor: Dark Mild Timothy Taylor: Landlord

Plus 4 differing rotating guests (the Anglo-Dutch Devil's Knell, a once-annual brew, may be on one of these pumps, rather than at the outside bar).

Dewsbury is served by First Trans Pennine Express and Northern Trains. The bus station is a 5 minute walk from the railway station.

Updated list with some tasting notes:-

Durham- Nine Altars 5.2%(ABV): Smooth malty flavour with fruity undertone. Dark ruby colour.

Glentworth- Columbus Gold 4.0% (ABV): Light and hoppy beer, the classic glentworth formula. Easy drinking with a smooth bitter finish.

Anglo-Dutch- Sarah Barnes Stark Raving Wild 6.0% (ABV): To those who know Sarah Barnes wildness is par for the course, to those who don't, maybe this beer will help you understand! Strong malt and hoppy flavours throughout.

Acorn- Gorlovka 6.0% (ABV): Deep coloured stout with bags of malt. Spicy hot bitterness and a fruity dry finally.

Wear Valley- Twilight ale 4.2% (ABV): Rich dark ale with a soft subtle chocolate aftertaste. Very pleasing to the palate.

Hambletons- Nightmare 5.2% (ABV) Impressively flavoured beer, strong roast malts, but hopiness rears out a complex blend.

Copper Dragon- Black Gold 3.7% (ABV): Dark ale with subtle fruit and dark malts, quite bitter with roast coffee flavours with a long burnt finish.

Yorkshire Dales- Wearside ESB 5.2% (ABV): Strong dark bitter, sweet nutty full-bodied character late hopping of English golding for an excitingly fruity finish.

Scatter Rock- Old Blossom 4.8% (ABV): Strong but light mixture of fuggles and cascade with a grassy stray flavour.

Barefoot - Mellow Yellow 3.8% (ABV): Blonde coloured session ale.

Concert Ale works - Red dust 4.5% (ABV): A well rounded rich ruby red ale.

Bull Lane- Nowts the matter 4.5% (ABV): XB- Light and citrusy bitter.

Hill Island - Dun Cow Bitter 4.2% (ABV): Brown coloured session bitter, Easily quaffable.

Little Valley- Stoodly stout 4.8% (ABV): Organic Stout.

Cairngorm- Trade Winds 4.3% (ABV): A truly intense, fruity speciality beer with a strong hoppy character and grapefruit noted throughout.

Orkney- Dark Island 4.6% (ABV): A sweetish roast malt taste leads to a long lasting roasted, slightly bitter finish.
