This is the problem. Even my ultra-budget youth hostel is costing almost 40 quid a night. I might have to...no...surely not...stay off the beer for a couple of days!
Many thanks to everyone for their helpful replies. I might not try the drinking in public act. I don't want to cause any offence or do any more damage to the image of Brits abroad.
