GK website

Thought I'd have a look to see what spin GK were putting on the IPA win but can't open the website. Anyone else having trouble ... or has some irate beer lover nobbled it ;-)

Cheers

Works here, though the mystery meat navigation took a while to puzzle out (*why* do people think this is a good idea?)

From their News page:-

"Greene King IPA, one of the nation’s favourite cask ales, has scooped a Gold award in the best bitter category at the annual Great British Beer Festival 2004. For full article click below"

Hmmm.

Flash animations for link pages seem to be a good pointer to web site authors with no real skill. Using the fancy animation hides the deficiencies, and in the case of some web users totally blocks access. For a business this is sheer lunacy.

Interestingly not only do Kelham Island produce a much better beer their web site

formatting link
is much better laid out and easy to access. Clearly it isn't just brewing that they are better at :-)

Paradoxically, turning off styles and tables on the site puts the content (such as it is) first, and it is possible to get at least some way into the site. Whether it's worth the effort, or you'd ever want to go back after having been there once, is another matter.

I don't think either site could be viewed as an example of how to do it, there are a lot of criticisms that could be levelled at the Kelham Island site as well.

Of course, no sooner than I post, it comes back - though it was unavailable yesterday pm and eve.
