Guinness really is good for you!

Finally someone has confirmed that drinking Guinness is good for you, even the pasteurised dead version, now lets see them repeat it for RA. Maybe we'd see a few more real stouts available.

Favourite part: "Drinking lager does not yield the same benefits"

top stuff. However, there was this quote: "[spokesman for Brewing Research International] said: "We already know that most of the clotting effects are due to the alcohol itself, rather than any other ingredients. "

but.. if this is the case, they were either using really weak lager, or Guinness really does have significant health benefits not due to alcohol content.

I think the real message has nothing to do with the benefits of moderate alcohol consumption. Its that those lovely *flavours* we enjoy so much come with a small health benefit *as well*.

The flavourless stuff doesn't ;)

I noticed the BBC story included an old advert that depicted seven pints of Guinness, which is probably slightly more than 'is good for you'.
