You have to have lived in the area for 20 years before you know where Liversedge is, as the centre of town was demolished in the sixties to make way for a dual carriageway (which carries a 30mph limit, by the way).
Cleckheaton and Liversedge are worth a visit though, for the JDW, the Marsh (Old Mill), the Swan (Daleside etc.) and the Black Bull (9 real ales inc. 4 Ossett). Then in Heckmondwike, the grade 2 listed Old Hall has Sam Smiths at around £1.30 and the New Charnwood restaurant / bar has an Ossett beer, Landlord and a mild/dark beer (lately Old Peculier from the wood) and locally-made ice cream flavoured with Taylor's Landlord! Total walk less than two miles.
