Junk mail

Ten days ago I went to a beer festival in.....let's say "Dull-on-Sea", which is a two hour drive from my home, and did something I've never done before at a festival. I entered my vote for the champion beer of the festival. There was also a prize draw involved - the voting form contained an entry for my name & address, ostensibly for the organisers to contact the winner for them to get their prize of pantomime tickets.

Now I'm not saying that the organisers sold my address to local businesses, but I do find it strange that in the last couple of days I've had junk mail through the post from the "Dull-on-Sea" tourism people, the "Dull-on-Sea" university and the "Dull-on-Sea" insurance company.

Co-incidence ?

Go on, tell us where it was - it's not fair to deny them their chance to respond, you know.

Or us our chance of a vigorous exchange of insu^h^h^h views with the organisers!

If they failed to provide an opt-out box for you to tick then their actions are probably illegal.

It was Eastbourne.

I'm not for one minute saying it *was* them, just a mighty strange co-incidence that within a week of being there and filling in that slip of paper I get all this junk mail from Eastbourne.

They knew it was you the moment you crossed the town boundary.

They distract you by asking you to fill in a slip of paper while they identify you by the pattern of blood vessels in the backs of your eyes, and by the pattern of follicles on your bald patch, and by the DNA in the saliva sample you left on your beer glass (which you had to put down to fill the form in.)

They're doing this to help the Bush Cabal make a list of everyone in the country so they'll know which ones to arrest and shoot as soon as they invade us.

You have a point there. He probably provided his email address but - not surprising if he had had a pint or six - failed to notice the box to tick if you _didn't_ want to be spammed by all and sundry. It would of course be much better if you were asked to tick a box saying that you really wanted masses of junk mail (hehehe). But human nature doesn't work that way.
