Oh yes - some friends of mine kept the Angel, Grosmont which was in the next village from the Cupids (IIRC it was at Kentchurch). Only went in there once though - landlord thought our friends, who were with us and had a night off, were spying on his business!
Of course it's a mandatory feature of such pubs for the locals to be very suspicious of "strangers"

I can assure you, it was our friends the rival innkeeper the landlord was nervous of - and let them know. I think his words were "I don't mind getting strange people in here, but what the *bleep* do you want?"
