Scared of the dark, lagerboy?

Found a Wychwood pub in Canterbury yesterday. As I walked in they had seemingly endless Wychwood memorabilia behind the bar featureing over twenty ales. I was then somewhat amazed to find they only had three ales on (one run out, and only one Wychwood ale), but nine taps for various differing lagers. Perhaps "lagerboy" is more profitable to them than they like to admit. Are they all like this?

No. I'm told they don't interfere much in the running of your pub: ours sells one lager (Budvar), two regular beers from a local small brewer and six from other small brewers more or less at random.

They don't do repairs or improvements either.

Strictly speaking there haven't been any Wychwood pubs since the pubs were split off from the brewery a few years ago ('Hobgoblinns'?). Even when they were part of Wychwood they were incredibly variable, some being superb real ale boozers (the Oxford one was very good at one time, and the Reading one still is) while some were indeed lagerboy heaven with a token cask beer.

Best regards, Paul

Would that by any chance be the fortuitously named Hobgoblin on St Peter's Street? I'm local but I never drink in there - no point when there are several far superior pubs just a couple of minutes walk away, eg the Unicorn.
