Sparklers (Again)

I don't want to re-ignite the arguments but can anyone tell me when sparklers started to appear? Am I right in thinking they were unknown before the 60s?

TIA

It's not so much sparklers as swan necks which cause the problem with knocking the stuffing out of reals ale.

The old fashioned pumps with half inch bore fitted with a sparkler presented a head above the beer not half way down

the glass. The Northern Head seems to follow the Guinness short measure is best for profit.

Being a grumpy old man I seem to remember a full pint was the norm.

26 years working for a National Brewer saw a lot of changes.

75 pints out of a 72 pint container was obligatory - or so the Stock Controller thought.

Fortunately the Free Houses that most of us use provide good beer at a good price.

LOng may they prosper.
