So it looks like there's too damned many CAMRA fests to choose from throughout the year. They can't all be great, can they (assuming one doesn't believe that no one fest can't be any better than any other one fest)?

Roppelt's Kellerbier is surprisingly--and wonderfully-- reminiscient of the old, original, FFG Mirror Pond PA from Deschutes, back before the Downfall: Hoppy (though not Cascade-y, natch), malty, and a bit buttery. Just god damned succulent, it is. (Those Brotzeit portions are half-sized ones, FWIW, on the order of EUR 2 per.) (n.b. "butter" != "butterscotch")

Yep.

Peterborough is a great festival, held on the banks of the River Nene in large marquees. Some people prefer it to GBBF. I like the Newark festival, also an outdoor one, which has the ales in one marquee and pretty good live bands in another.

Stockport is another good festival - held in the football (soccer to you lot!) stadium :-)

CAMRA members put a lot of hard work into every festival. They're all good in their own way. Some are better than others, that's all.
