NYC Homebrewers Guild Meeting Tuesday 3/15

The next meeting of the New York City Homebrewers Guild will be held Tuesday, March 15th at 7:30. Our guest speaker is Dave Hoffman, brewer for Climax Brewing Company in Roselle Park, NJ. We'll badger him about his brewery's recent foray into New York City's beer scene.

We'll also discuss such upcoming beer events as Brewtopia (April 16) and Tap NY at Hunter Mountain (April 23-24).

The Guild meets at Brewsky's, 41 E. 7th St. (between 2nd and 3rd Ave) the third Tuesday each month. Bring your friends, bring your homebrew. New members are always welcome.

Yeah, those New Yorkers think they're important enough that the whole world wants to attend there [sic] local meeting. Feh, I say. Learn something about proper distribution. And what happened to Fill-up, the normal spam-boy? Too embarassed to keep posting?

Doesn't everybody wish they could be a New Yorker?

Dave is the new president of the guild, Joe. This is one of his responsibilities now.

The reason why we posting the entire newsgroup is that we sometimes get people from other states coming to our meetings. Homebrewers who vacation in the Big Apple come to our meetings when they can.

Actually, they do....

Any cuisine in the world. Any beer in the world. All a twenty minute drive away from my front door.

Who's this "Joe" person?

"Oh, lighten up, Francis."

Oops, that's not your name. Hey, I'm from New York. I don't give a shit.

Like I said. Any beer and any food within twenty minutes. How many other places can say that?

I'd of made the trip up to NYC for one of these meeting, but I had had a cracked vertebrae and wasn't going to chance driving and the train schedule didn't work for me.

No, they don't.

Oh Yes, hot pizza for breakfast, all night bridge clubs, breakfast any hour of the day or night. I love New York. I did live there in the 60's, but never again. I don't know which is worst: crosstown traffic, god damn liberals, or Yankee fans. That not really true it's the god damn Yankee fans I can't stomach.

I have to go there again though. Just to see what's happened to the saloons of 40 years ago.

Hope you're feeling better now. I was recently diagnosed with two herniated disk. Some days, it's a real PITA to get out of bed.

Aside from the fact there's no smoking in them, the bars have gotten better and have multiplied. You can't throw a dead cat without hitting one.

Oh, you're not going to like the new president of the Guild, then. At least he doesn't drive.

The saloons house the shells of men who drank their lives into oblivion 40 years ago. Now there are plenty of bars which cater to those who love good beer.

Bah. The post office is five minutes' walk.

If we take "any" to mean "any exported style" for beer, and "any cuisine" for food, tell me what is missing, AJ.

And, in honor of the upcoming anniversary, JLAAM. Furrfu.

Nicely played.

How's that wall o' beer coming?

Sahti.

BTW, if that's the criteria, I'd venture to say that the same applies to San Francisco. And, if you don't hit traffic, LA. Of course, sometimes that 20 minutes becomes two hours here. C'est la vie.

New York is derived from Schwarzbier?

Woopsie. B. United is bringing in a sahti from Finland now. Betcha you can find it in a certain specialist beer shop in Brooklyn.

Yes, which means that New York is, in actuality, a Baltic Porter.
