A new type of patented malt for intensifying beer flavor???

Loading thread data ...

Ooops. I just happened to notice on that page that the patent was issued on April 11, 1995, so it isn't so new after all. Does anyone know if this process has been incorporated into the brewing industry?

Barley is always steeped before it is germinated. The temps uses are close to cool climate ambient.

Thanks, Mike. Just a misundertanding on my part because anytime I've had to steep something it has always had to do in some way with cooking and higher temps. I realize now that it just means to "soak".

By the way, I think you were the brewer who convinced me to batch sparge, and if so ... I'm loving it. Easy as pie with good results.

Cheers.
