First time home brewer

Hey guys, i am planning on attempting to brew my own beer at home. I was wondering, as a beginner, what woudl be my best bet for a starter kit, as i only want to start with just making a few beers.I was also wondering which would be the easiest beer to start with, i was thinking of starting with an IPA, i'm a hophead. And for my final question, where can i buy hops at? thanks for any help

Just do a google search for a homebrew store in your city. Your typical homebrewer is very helpful and can hook you up with a complete kit with recipe for your tastes.

For the first time, I would recommend a store over an internet site. That way you can be sure to get everything you need.

Good luck,

When I started I got a kit from William's brewing, some components of which I still use 7 years later. I would recommend a kit - a "complete homebrewery" from there or from Beer, Beer and More Beer. You will get fermentation and bottling vessels, a hydrometer and a variety of other options depending on how much money you want to spend. Most also come bundled with your choice of an ingredients kit to make your first batch.

After that I would seek out a local homebrew shop and begin to formulate your own recipes. My first batch was a William's Porter kit, my second batch was a partial mash hefeweizen from a recipe I put together and my 3rd batch I built a mashtun and went all grain - haven't looked back since.

Seeing that you ended your question with 'at' I'm guessing you might be from the Midwest. If this is the case I recommend

out of MN. Otherwise, here's a link to a recent thread with suggested online retailers:
