Plastic Water Containers

Hi-

I just started brewing at home, and I have a glass carboy as a secondary fermentor. I was noticing how much it looked like a plastic water bottle that sparklets uses for home or office delivery.

Is there a reason one couldn't use the Sparklet's bottle instead of the glass?

No reason not to use them at all, with some conditions. Sometimes those bottles are more difficult to clean. Also, almost all plastics allow more oxygen to pass thru them than glass does. So, to keep your beer from going stale (oxidizing), you should probably limit the time it stays in such a container. The time limit is probably on the order of 6 months, max, for typical plastics.

Right. But fermentation only lasts for 2 weeks max, right? =)
