Pumping my beer!

May 04, 2004 2 Replies

I've just begun measures to move house to one with a nasty concrete courtyard. I'm renting with three other people, and I've got their permission to completely take it over!

What I intend to do is put down a pub style picnic table for seating, tacky pub lantern lighting & half a wooden barrel. This is where I get confused.

I can make a nice brew now, but since I have this "pub" area, I want to start pulling my pints. I don't want to go into a really big project involving C02 canisters, pressure bits and pieces, so I'm after basic kit. And cheap!

I want to mount the pump on a half barrel (half in the vertical sense). What do I need to know about mounting it, what equipment do I require & where best (in England) do I get it from? Is there anything I have to be weary of?

I know these are horribly wide open questions - any help would be wonderful.

this might be what you are looking for.

these guys are the best. tyler is one of the most helpful people i've ever talked to and ordered from without knowing them first. i even don't mind paying for UPS shipping across country becaue i know tyler will get it right. i've even had defective stuff that they've replaced quickly and without question.

sorry if this post seemed like a troll.

From about £50 you can get a reconditioned handpump from Singleton's

of whom I can't speak highly enough. If you want to recon it yourself have a look on ebay where there are always a few handpumps for sale.
