Trub?

May 07, 2005 1 Replies

I usualy brew from extract (DME), occassonally do steeping grains, after boiling I generally strain off my hop debris (trub) and simply do a primary in a plastic bucket, bottle and drink. Switching to a conical fermenter with a bottom dump, how should I change my technique?

Avery Brew on brother!

As far as I know, you should be able to just transfer wort straight from the boil kettle to the conical, wait the time period for primary fermentation and use the bottom dump valve to drop any & all sediment allowing you to go straight to secondary fermentation. This would save you the time and trouble of straining the trub.
