Yarrow Beer

Looking for some suggestions:

I'm brewing a yarrow beer, using a recipe from "Sacred and Herbal Healing Beers"

My primary ingredients will be dried yarrow and brown sugar, (no malt extact, no hops!).

This is an experimental beer for me and I want to get some thoughts from others on the process.

First off, even though my recipe doesn't call for it, I am thinking about adding some kind of yeast nutrient, as my understanding is brown sugar does not have everything necessary for a healthy fermentation?

So, what would a good yeast nutrient be, as I ever never used one before (most of my homebrews so far have been malt extract based)

Also, if I was going to prepare a yeast starter using a liquid yeast, would I want to included malt extract in my starter, even though I am not using it as part of the fermentation? Should I try to mimic the wort I am using, (dried yarrow, brown sugar, and maybe some kind of yeast nutrient instead?)

Thanks.

Also would like to know if anyone else has had much luck brewing any of the beers in this book, this is my third recipe I am working on. I also just picked up "Radical Brewing" which has lots of great ideas in it, haven't tried any yet.

I am planning for a future brew a hard ginger ale also using brown sugar instead of malt extract, so any suggestions with that one would be apreciated as well.

Thanks

Dan
