best source for a good long-leaf assam?

Could anyone tell me of a good place to order a good assam with longer leaves? The only place in town that carries tea is going to quit selling what they have, in favor of the shorter, faster brewing variety. Thanks for your opinions, -Dave

has treated me very well. I think their Kama Black is probably what you're referring to - it's quite nice, and costs $9.75/lb.

If not, well, send Saunam some email.

If indeed, as I have been told here, the Kalami or Gulabi tea is a whole-leaf assam, you might consider a trip to your local middle eastern market and see if they have some. I have enjoyed it a lot, and it does indeed have a long steeping time. I think the last time I bought some it was under $5/lb.

I don't know about "best", but 2004 top-line Melengs have seemed really good to me. Possibly the best I've tried lately is IPoTs:
