Chai Sorkh

May 15, 2007 1 Replies

Fifty or more years ago in the Northwest Frontier area of Pakistan and adjacent Afghanistan, I was often served "chai sorkh" meaning "red tea" that was actually green tea with added milk that was whipped until it became pink. I think a dash of baking soda had something to do with the color change. Can anyone straighten out my senile memory?

I have seen red chai and green chai in the health food stores. Don't know about them "changing" though.
