Marunouchi is a district (or at least a subway stop) in Tokyo, where Jim lives.

Jim, nice notes. I haven't had any of those 1961s, but all of the notes on the '82s were right on.

Thanks for the notes. This must be at least one of the 3 ] best wines of 1961 and perhaps the very best. ] ][]

This is the bottle I'd like to open for my 50th in '11. Can't think of a better birth year offering. Now I just have to get someone to give it as a present! :)

Thanks for the great notes Jim. I've got some of the '82s, but no '61s in the cellar... :( Sounds like a great evening, and I enjoyed it vicariously.

Sorry...at least my provincialism is not of the US type! Before anybody jumps me, please understand that I am allowed to rib myself, as I am American.

As Dale says, Marunouchi is a district in Tokyo. Literally translates as "inside of the circle".

What day is your birthday, Emery? Jean is also a '61 baby, and if history is any indicator, I expect to be touring France in '11 with her. Mayhap I'll have to bring along a bottle of this ;-)

13/4 for me. Paxon is 5/4 and although he is a 99, I know he'd already appreciate a taste of that Latour!

Anyway I like your cunning plan, but I don't like the idea of the venerable juice bumping around on the back seat of your minivan! :)

Thanks Dale. As I've said, I enjoy Bordeaux but don't really get them in the way I feel like I get Burg or Loire or MSR or Nahe or Piemonte.

Knowing that your first affection was for Bordeaux, it is nice to have you validate my notes a bit.

Great night. I may have to make more of an effort to start to get Bordeaux.

Thanks Emery. That '61 Latour was truly stunning, but I must admit that -- for my own palate -- I preferred the '61 HB. But, you know, I'd be happy to drink either.

If I put aside personal preferences and if I gave points, the '61 Latour might come out on top of all the wines. The provider of the wines said that he thought the Latour didn't show as well as his other bottles had before. If this was an underperforming bottle, I can only imagine what it must be like when it is on form!

Evenings of this caliber are few and far between for me, but I think that makes them more special when they happen.
