Hi Lars, Darjeeling (DJ) Oolongs have been around for quite a few years now, for example Gopaldhara (FOP1, Red Thunder), Poobong (Black Musc), Rohini (Goldwire), Singbulli (Super Fancy OOlong), Soom, ... to name a few, with more to come. (Just today a chinese tea delegation arrived (as well as a german), I'll get more information tomorrow.) Though not specifically manufactured to be gong-fued, DJ Ooolongs can be quite exquisite (2005 Autumnal Gopaldhara Red Thunder). Keeping that in mind I'd advise against the traditional washing of the leaves as the first step in gong-fu, too much flavour gets lost here. One of the main reasons are those thin leaves of the plants grown here, opposed to the much thicker leaves most Chinese and Taiwanese Oolongs are made of, and of course a different way of manufacturing those leaves.
