FF Darjeeling

The Dutch Tea & Coffee merchants Simon Levelt import a small batch of what they call Royal Flush, which is actually Ambootia FF specially flown over for them. My first impression is, that while it has a quite nice almost leafy taste, I still need to experiment a bit with steeping times. What are your experiences with this years FF teas?

Michiel,

Ripon and I sat for awhile in his garden patio drinking the Ambootia FF the other day. We both came to the same conclusion you did. FF leaf freshness was definitely in evidence, but very little flower or other complexities. Finish was too weak. At the same time there were no "bad notes." Perhaps leaf amount and steep time variations might improve it. Ripon spoke of giving it nine tries. I wouldn't have the patience.
