Limed Out

I am back home in ZImbabwe for a bit, and I cannot get decent water to drink my teas with that I purchased in london. The water has a very high lime content as it comes from a well and the botttled water available here is either poluted or also from a well. My kettle has a lot of chalky looking stuff in it and the tea tatste awful Can hardly tatse the nice qualities and its a real shame , any ideas on what I can add or do to the water to get a better brew. Thanks Maurice

Can you get distilled water? I know it's not much good by itself, but if you use five parts RO or distilled water to one part of chalky water, the results can be better than either one alone.

Time to collect rain water.

wow that's a tough one. Try this: boil the bad water and let the steam condense in something and run into a pot sitting nearby. The run-off water should be quite pure. It's a slow process but perhaps the only one you have available.

Order a tabletop distiller and then add back trace minerals.

Or you can cut the distilled water or rain water with some of the high lime water :)

ok RAINWATER was the easiest one, i got some from a friend and WOW what a difference it really is amazing how fresh and tasty rain water can make the tea. I will try and get some distilled water from the battery guy here.See what that tastes like Thanks for the long distance help. I iwll add a bit of the lime water but I think the tatse is ok now . Really refreshing delivery clean and enjoyable. Good one
