It's not tea. It's an herbal tisane. There is no tea in this concoction. I think "hippiechick" has the wrong board here or is promoting the herbalist links on her website. This is the second post referring to a root or an herb that is not tea. There must be a "hippie" use.net for her somewhere. Shen

Hey Magicleaf....I drink it everyday...but I find that anyone who has bad heartburn should not drink it, it seems to make that condition worse. I find it really calms my stomach...my stomach is very sensitive, and it has helped me in such a big way.

There are health food stores were I live that carry this tea, its not hard to find. I have friends that grow peppermint in their gardens, and put a leaf or two in their tea, and they love it. That is a cheaper way then buying the tea, but either way, its realy awesome.

That's fine. I like hippie girls. There is nothing finer in the morning than the scent of patchouli. What I mind is people promoting "tea" that contains no tea. Bricks without straw, bricks without clay....

:-) Groovy. I guess I am confused. Because were I live in Canada, they sell it as tea in the supermarket and the health food stores??? I do see your point, just not understanding why I can buy it, and it says peppermint tea on the box??

I think what others are getting at, and you don't seem to be getting, is that "tea" contains the leaves of the tea plant. Tisanes are an herbal infusion of plant material, other than the leaves of the tea plant. For it to be peppermint tea, it would have to be tea leaves flavored with peppermint, or a mixture of tea leaves and peppermint leaves.

Having said that, I really enjoy an iced tisane of spearmint leaves on a hot day. Or, as we call it around here spearmint tea. That's right, we use the tea word in vain. Better yet, is some iced tea with spearmint leaves added. I'm more of a spearmint guy.

I live in Canada and yes, tea is sold next to peppermint "tea" in the same aisle, shelf, or section (as with most places in N. America). However the distinction is made, and peppermint "tea" (a tisane) is definitely not sold as tea (made from Camellia sinensis leaves).
