Teaspring

I'm thinking of ordering some new greens and oolongs from Teaspring. What's the general consensus: are their teas, which seem fairly expensive, worth the money?

Hi Dean,

I have ordered oh, three or four spring greens from them this year, I think they're worth it. I didn't think it was all that expensive considering some other vendors, but I guess it's what you're used to paying or used to drinking. I get four or five steeps out of my greens at least though, so I get a lot of mileage out of a little green. And I concentrate more on higher quality Chinese greens right now becasue they are my favorite. I really liked their LuAn Melon seed (I know they call it Liu An on the website but I say Lu for clarities' sake) I have never had this kind of tea, and the leaves I got were quite bold. The Long Ding I got earlier was like pine needles (my husband though so too) which I find beautiful. The leaves hang down from the top of the water and wave to and fro when you move the glass...it's like an undersea forest or something.

It was not, however, like a cloud in my mouth. (Iron Chef referance there) Tee hee!

I'm a satisfied customer. And their courtesy and customer service has been fantastic for me, which I pay a LOT of attention to.

Now I do have to say that the Bai Hao I ordered from them was not as..flavorful...as some I got from (of all places )Specialteas last year but I have no idea why this is. I don't ahve the experience with oolongs that I do with greens, but I didn't get that dried apricot smell as strongly from Teasprings BH. It doesn't seem like their leaves were as large either, for what that's worth. I'll probably try some of their other oolongs this summer...but I'm up to my neck in lovely green tea and puer right now what a dilemma...:D

i've been dealing with various online vendors for years now, and i'm bound to say that daniel and teaspring is first-rate. attention to detail, prompt- ness of communication - it's all great. and, the teas are uniformly excellent and not, in my opinion over-priced at all, in fact i find them quite reasonable....................................p*

Which of the green teas at Teaspring would you suggest I try? I liked green tea very much and lost my taste for it. I think I may have had some that was not very good.

Thanks.........

It depends very much on your taste preferances, but I liked the ones I got, the Lu an Melon Seed, the Bian Cha, and the Kaihua Long Ding. I've wanted to try the Gan Lu for a year now but now I have to get through what I have here, lol...

My suggestion would be to get some samples (smaller amounts that is) of a variety, that way you'll get a better idea.

Melinda and pilo_,

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll give them a try.

pilo_, I saw a few teas on the web site that exceeded US$50 for 100 grams. That's expensive, IMHO. OTOH, I saw many that were much more reasonable, so in general I agree with you.

Regards, Dean
