Remember that message about brick tea from Nov 9th from snipped-for-privacy@mailcity.com ? (if not - see it below)
Just bought this tea and tasted it. This is "tibetan" tea - tea made in China from Hubei tea for Tibetan consumer. The text on the wrapper is in Chinese and Tibetan. Green needs more investigation (I am not that impressed right now, but it has potential) but black is good. Not fabulous, but good. I never drink normal black tea with milk, but this one I tried and it was very good (but I am not an expert - again, I do not drink tea with milk). Breaking off a piece of a black one is a challenge - that how dense this is. Knife just scratches it. I had to use some serious tools like large "biting" pliers to make that happen. Green is easier to handle. I will be trying it Tibetan way as soon as I get a carton of half-and-half and a shaker. Results will be reported.
The vendor sold me some pieces of it in addition to the gorgeous, very dense and beautifully made slabs with texts and pictures, so I can taste it without breaking the slabs. I think you guys should try this - I will be especially interested in your opinion on green one - particularly if it will come from Mike, Michael, Lew, whose tastes I more or less understand thanks to their tasting web site.
The shipment was fast and everything was packed and handled perfectly. Needless to say I am not affiliated with them in any way, but I enjoyed fast service and extra effort from their rep -Travis Gross snipped-for-privacy@lycos.com
