Upton has dropped Organic Genmai. Recommendations?

I really liked this tea. It seemed a very good balance of rice and tea. Few popped rice kernels, mellow, toastier than Upton's regular genmai. And it was organic. It may sound silly, but I feel as though I've lost a friend.

Can anyone who has tried this tea recommend a replacement?

Sorry, I've never tried either tea. But you might try Yamamotoyama Brown Rice Tea Genmai-cha which comes in a lime green colored box of foil sealed tea bags or Shirakiku brand Genmai-cha in loose tea form. I buy both at Japanese grocery stores.

After reading that you found Shirakiku on the web, I did a search too and found this:

which mentions his favorite genmai cha as: Maeda-En. He thinks it is far superior. I'm no tea connoisseur. I've always just drunk genmai cha because that's what my parents had. I think my Mom told me that genmai cha used a lower grade of tea than expensive green teas as much of the flavor came from the rice. Whatever, I've always loved that popped rice flavor over plain green tea.
