Burn Of Speyside

Jan 23, 2005 2 Replies

I just got the above bottle as a present when I held an early Burns Night on Saturday. It is a vatted malt actually and very young. It say's on the label, "6 yrs and is a vatting of Balvenie Single Malt and Glenfiiddich Single Malt". My local Liquor man here in Arnhem The Netherlands told me it has 99% Balvenie and 1% Glenfiddich in it. It also say's on the label that it is a Speyside Malt from refill sherry hogheads. I must say it was a bit of a dissppointment. It looks very pale like white wine almost. But that is not the reason for my dissapointment. It just doesnt taste anything like either Balvenie or Glenfiddich. Very bland in taste. I wonder if anybody else has tried it?

Peace,

Jock

here you can read it *(I think youre Dutch as well.

I found and find this whisky very good v=for a very young whisky. It contains 98 % Balvenie 7y old and 2% Genfiddich. And it comes with sherry cask and in bourbon cask I prefered the sherry but thats personal. This makes it a nice easy to drink starters whisky not unpleasant but also not perfect. on a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate it 6?. Slainte and alle the best

Jeff snipped-for-privacy@bennevisclub.nl If would rate this one

Jeff thanks very much for the information. I am not Dutch actually I am Scottish, but have lived in The Netherlands for 27 years now. I am married to a Dutch woman. Thats what I get for going to a Kibbutz in Israel in the early 70's:-))

I like the story of Burn Of Speyside. I love a good tale. This will increase the whisky's quality for me as well now that I have read this. I am interested to hear about the Wardhead now too.

Peace,

Jock ( yes my real name)
