Chicago: Good Buy at Binny's

In case there are any Chicago area whisky folks around, Binny's on Grand is selling Bowmore 12 yr. for $19.99. I just brought four bottles home, and left about eight for others (airline weight restrictions, or I wouldn't be mentioning this. 8;) )

Rats--I was at Binny's about a week ago and picked up 3 bottles of Signatory un-chillfiltered on sale (Glen Rothes, Highland Park, and another Ardmore) but didn't see that price on the Bowmore. It's the 12 and not the Legend?

Definitely the 12. I don't care for the Legend and wouldn't have bought it.

Some with the painted-on label, some with the paper label.

I also picked up a bottle of the Springbank 12 yr Sherry Wood finish

52.4% abv and a bottle of the Glengoyne Limited Edition Scottish Oak finish, which I hadn't come across before.

They had an unchillfiltered 14 yr Highland Park bottled for a person named (John C. ???), whom I was told is the resident whisky expert for Binny's, but I wasn't willing to gamble the $70 at the expense of giving up one of the other six bottles I was stuffing into my backpack

-- heavy! Also another unchillfiltered HP 14 was on sale for $49, which might have been the Signatory.

If only they'd ship to Virginia, I'd have bought an assorted case, but WV seems to be the nearest state on their shipping list. 8;(

I got mugged by Clark & Belmont......... Near the EL tracks. This happened while I was enjoying a good high. But the weather was nice that day so I do like Chicago.

Sam's is also having their fall warehouse sale. Lots of private bottlings at (what seems to me) great prices. Also quite a few of the OB's are lower than I can usually find them. (In WA. state, many standards are not available at all in the state stores).

The catalog is available on their website.
