Desert Island Single Malts

If you could pick 3 single malts as your only malts, which would they be?

Mine would be:

  1. Macallan 12 (smooth)
  2. Belvenie 12 (complex)
  3. Lagavulin 16 (smoky)

Mine would be any from the following three distilleries (single malt):

Daluaine Edradour Ardbeg (preferably their new Uighdal [excuse the spelling])

I would end up choosing the following, with much teeth-gnashing and wailing...

Springbank-1966 Local Barley

Ardbeg-Lord of the Isles

Longmorn-Signatory 23y Cask Strength 1972

with Talisker 25y Cask Stength coming in a very close fourth...

Signatory Dailuaine 1985 is the only expression of this whisky that I`ve purchased, so my experience with this dram is limited. I`ve gotta say though- damn, I loved this one. Citrus, citrus, citrus! I notice that Loch Fyne has available a Dailuaine

1980 21 year old from Adelphi as well as a 'Connoisseurs Choice' 27 year old. Has anyone tried these?

Er, oh yes, the other two.
