speaking of whisky books...

... well someone was a few weeks ago..

Not about tastings of individual whiskys, though both do mention their impressions .. but about Whisky .. how it is made, the people, the culture and the like.

There are two that I would recomend. One is Ralph Steadman's "Still Life with a Bottle" I'm a big fan of his art and would hang it on my wall if I could convince my wife..

The other I'm just reading now is Iain Banks "Raw Spirit", a funny dialog as he searches for the perfect Dram.. more than half-way through the book he has hit many of the distilleries that I have visited and seen much of the same stuff ... and he seems pretty smart because so far he agrees with me in almost all respects.. I just hope he doesn't spoil things by deciding that Littlemill is his perfect Dram.. (by page

200 we agree on what that is too...)

I'll look out for that one, thanks.

While 'Raw Spirit' is indeed a damn good read, I don't think it's a very good book on whisky - it's more of a travellogue (sp?) centered on distilleries.

Hmmm. That's damning it with faint praise, which wasn't my intent.

Fear not however - Littlemill isn't his favourite...
