'00 Smith or Chateau Gloria?

Looling for a nice wine to go with a leg of lamb (OK not quite traditional Xmas fare but . . .) on Xmas. I have the above mentioned plus a 2000 St Emilion Crand Cru from Haut Veyrac. These are my best choices, which child do I sacrifice? Any help appreciated, all blame squarely on my shoulders.

This is Smith Haut Lafite? If so, I'd guess that it is the most likely to be closed now, and the Haut Veyrac the most likely to be open. I think the SHL and Gloria are likely to be in awkward places, but if you do I'd decant a couple hours in advance.

Looks like the St Emilion (darn, my wife still doesn't get the CS)unless I turn up a hidden Rioja Reserva to add to the mix. And yes, it is the Smith Haut Lafite, sorry for the ommission.

To my mind, the SHL & the Gloria are still too infant - but the '00 St. emillion should drink well.

Had a similar problem tonight wiha standing rib roast. Wanted a Bdx - but my cellar is all too young. So opted instead for an '02 Alexander Cab from a local producer. Was surprisingly rich and elegant - and well balanced.

BW - as an ex-Kiwi, having lamb at Xmas sounds just fine to me!
