I found three bottles of the 1989 Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet while rummaging through the celler so I opened one last night with braised sirloin tips. Somewhat brickish red color with a clear colorless rim. The nose was pure cedar at first but eventually opened up showing tobacco and anise. The wine was medium bodied on the palate with a fairly striking minerality with red fruits, red plums and cedar flavors. It would have been hard in a blind tasting not to have picked this as being from Bordeaux. I bought these on release in a case lot fro the winery and will drink the remaining two over the next few months as the wine seems to be fading. B+
