1995 Coudoulet de Beaucastel

Every once in awhile they make an especially good vintage of this second wine, made from grapes from 'across the highway' on the other side of the demarcation line for the AOC. This is such a vintage.

Good colour, a nose of blood and jammy vanilla, with dark fruit and a little pepper, very smooth in the mouth, low acidity and some remaining soft tannins. Will not improve; may continue to hold.

I think that I prefer this to the touted 1998, at least so far.

Thanks for the notes, Bill. I also like the Coudoulet in certain years, but the price tag makes it a questionable purchase for me these days. IIRC, the last bottle I opened was the '88, which was quite lovely. I might have to search for more of the stuff...
