I's turkey hinting this week at my farm so we did rack of lamb on the grill last night. I opened two bottles of California Cabernet with the lamb.
2002 Flora Springs WIld Boar Vineyard-Medium body, medium red in the glass. More red fruits than black fruits, some raspberry, one dimensional, resolved tannins. "B-"2001 Shafer Hillside Select-Full throttle California Cabernet. Very dark purple, upfront nose of cassis and blackberries. Big, ripe and concentrated on the palate still showing a lot of baby fat. Lot's of black currant, blackberry and blueberry a bit of anise and black coffee fnishing with a bit of oaky vanilla and a bit of heat. Needs about ten years. "A"
