2005 Domain Des Deux Mondes 'Saints and Sinners" Viognier,

I can't say enough about this wine. I have never been blown away by a Viognier before but this one is lucious. It violates the $15 per bottle as this is $21 per bottle. The nose is over the top tropical fruits and spice. The palate is similar with good acidity no flabbiness at all. The finish lasts a long time and sticks with you. A really good food wine. It has been popular and may be harder to find but I just got a case 3 weeks ago. The pedigree could not be better on this small-production wine.

Its parents are Morgan Clendenen, whose husband Jim, put the Central Coast on the wine map with Au Bon Climat and who has been turning heads in her own right with Cold Heaven, and Yves Cuilleron, one of the world's top producers of Condrieu, where viognier came from.

thanks, I can't say I drink much Viognier, but this sounds worth looking for

Most interesting, Larry! I'll have to look for some. I have mixed feelings about Cuilleron's Condrieus: there's no denying the quality, but some of his offerings are too highly oaked for my tastes. A good Viognier, though, can be a lovely thing if not too heavy.

No oak I can appreciate in this bottling.
