2005 Frederic Magnien Bourgogne Rose

I was gifted this bottle a few weeks ago and due to damn near blizzard conditions I decided to stay home open it and have a glass with my ham and provelone panni lunch.

The nose is a bit tight but there's a whiff of red berries and stones. The wine is brilliantly acidic and rips across your palate like a squeeze of fresh lemon but it's quickly followed by a burst of ripe red fruit and spice which takes a moment or two to clear leaving a stoney, mineral like impression in your mouth. Not quite Bourgogne Rouge but one can certainly place it's lineage. As I worked my way through the bottle I realized that I was hooked and couldn't stop sipping it. I just checked the price and at $25.00 it's a bit pricey ( I would have preferred it more at $15.000 but I'll still give it a B

  • on the Dale scale.
