2007 Vieilles Julienne CNP

I smoked baby back ribs this weekend at my farm with a side of fried stuffed squash blossoms and a cold pasta with fresh peas and mint. I went looking for a bottle of Zin to open but my cellar at the farm needs to be re-stocked so I opened a bottle of 2007 Vieilles Julienne CNP. My recollection of this was that it was a bit sappy and berry filled and I was correct. Deep reddish purple in the glass. Nose of blueberries and blackberries. Very ripe and plush on the palate with flavors of crushed fresh berries. It went well witht he smokey and slightly spicy pork ribs. Nice wine. "A-"

Hi Bill,

Sounds like a nice mouth full ... I don't know this wine, although I guess it is "Vieille Julienne" unless there are more than one of them (that would be Vieilles Juliennes anyway) :). I looked up the address and it appears to be up on the plain, away from the galets. Proabably largely grenache with medium vine age (just guessing). Wondering what such a wine costs these days in the states, if you know of course.

2007 is still awake and drinking very well, sounds like a nice match too.

cheers,

-E
