I had the opportunity last night to taste two new release wines from Orin Swift Abstract, a grenache, petite syrah, syrah blend and Palermo a Cabernet (83%), Merlot blend. QUite frankly I couldn't tell the wines apart in a side by side blind tasting. The overwhelming flavor was of oak. There was quite a bit of tutti-frutti type of berry and fruit underneath the oak but when you cannot distinguish California grenache from California cabernet something is amiss. Not something I will by buying.
