A friend just gave me a bottle of 1974 Haraszthy Cellars Buena vista Port and would like to know more about it. What grapes might have been used? Could it still be good? My friend got it from someone else and has no idea how it was stored. Thanks.
Probably red wine grapes were used.
Only one way to know for sure how good it is - open it and drink it. Enjoy, but have a back-up on hand.

Well don't mention that last part, but ask for some info at:
There's a link to e-mail them for info. Don't be surprised if they tell you they don't know; the winery has changed hands at least once since 1974. There's no mention of Port type wine on their present site.
