Old Bottles

A few I've received over the course of a few years. I'd like the group's opinion on these as whether to hold, drink now, or dump down the drain...

The labels are as follows:

  1. Grand Cru Classe Chateau Haut-Bages Liberal Pauillac
1986 S.F. Haut-Bages Liberal, proprietaire A Pauilac (giroude) Mis En Bouteilles Au Chateau

This bottle was stored in a cool basement in a suburb of NY

  1. Grand Cru Classe Chateau Lafon-Rochet Saint - Estephe
1981 Ste Civile du Chateau Lafon-Rochet Appellation Saint-Estephe Controlee

This was kept in a warm NY apartment.

3 and 4. Chateau du Cadillacs. One red, and one white. There is no other appellation mentioned on these bottles, so I'm assuming they're of a lower quality. Red is 1979, white is 1981.

Any thoughts, comments, critiques?

Thanks, RT

That bottle is probably good.

This one _might_ still be OK. It sort of depends on just how warm a "warm NY apartment" has been over the years. If you plan on serving this wine with dinner, be sure to have a backup bottle or two.

Those last two are probably well past their prime - if, indeed, they ever _had_ a prime. The red would be more likely to still be palatable. Might make a decent marinade.

It's even likely to be excellent. (I happen to have a double magnum of this wine in my cellar.)

FWIW, Parker rates it 90/100, last tasted 1990, and gives a maturity window "Now to 2015".
