Sangria Modification?

Here's what I did and here's what I'm going to do next. What do you think?

I made my first batch of Sangria.

1 bottle of 2005 Folie a Deux Menage a Trois California Red Wine (I heard the 2004 was a good choice, but not available to me at the time). 2 cups Canada Dry Ginger Ale. 1/4 cup no pulp Orange Juice. 1 mini Korbel Brandy 2 Tbsp C&H Sugar 1 sliced Lime 1 sliced Lemon 1/2 sliced Fuji Apple

I added a couple of ziplock baggies of ice cubes and chilled it in the refrigerator for an hour (didn't have an overnight option). Shared it with

3 other people with the admonition that I had no idea if it was going to be terrible or decent or great. They all liked it and drank it to the last drop.

I enjoyed it, but thought it was a little too sweet. So I'm thinking of doing it all over again, but this time leaving out the 2 tablespoons of sugar to reduce the sweetness.

What would you do to improve my recipe? Feel free to try my recipe to see how you like it, before telling me what you would change; after all, it is Saturday!

Except for the gin-touch, that looked like a proper recipe for "sangria traditional style".

I'm not sure that gin would be my choice even for spiking what is not really a punch but I'd have thought vodka or pharmaceutical alcohol (tax-paid :-) might be best.
