We were relieved yesterday when we saw Dave's flight had taken off from London (where he had been stuck for 5 days). Before Betsy left for airport, we had a nice dinner of roast chicken, choy sum, and a barley/root vegetable soup. Wine was the 1998 Poujeaux (Haut Medoc). Decanted about 45 minutes before dinner. Good body, moderate acidity, tannins are still there but softening. Black plums and currants, a little leather. Quite pleasant almost-mature claret, nothing exciting but quite comfy. B+/B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
