After an evening spent toiling in the backyard in muggy weather to get ready for fence installers and garage painters, Jean and I decided that a glass or two of a chilled white wine was in order to restore some sense of relaxation to the evening. So, with a perfunctory snack of assorted rice crackers, I opened the only chilled white in the house:
2005 DeMoor Chablis 'Bel Air et Clardy' color: fairly intense golden yellow nose: initially, stones and lemons, turning more minerally with time palate: initially rather tight, with a tart finish, but after half an hour's time it had fleshed out nicely with some green apple and mineral notes, medium body and crisp finishThis is a wine that'll benefit from some age and also pair nicely with fish of all sorts. Given the constraints of the evening, it was still a nice experience. This was my first encounter with this producer and I came away quite impressed.
