TN: 3 older wines

Ihave recently had 3 wines that are rather old fro their type. All have been properly stored since release, there were no cork or other issues, and all fills were still within at east the low neck..

Mazzaco Sonama County Zinfandel 1990: This was a single bottle that I could not find for many years. The surprise is how well it has held. I would have guessed it to be a much younger wine on bind tasting. The color is still deep with little evidence of age. There is still fairly intense blackberry-like fruit. Also there is some medium tannin and plenty of acid. This is very much a food wine and not one of those over-the-top, port-like monsters. Although not a great wine, it is quite decent still.

Rauenthaler Riesling Spatlese 1976, Staatsweinguter, Eltville, A.P. Nr. 33050 77: This was a last bottle that had been lost for many years. It was better several years ago, but still drinks well. It has lost a bit of fruit, but otherwise is holding well. The 1976 auslese from the same source is a much better wine and is holding much better.

Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Bosche 1976: The color is still deep and does not show much age. There is still strong fruit, and still plenty of medium tannin and acid. This is a rather big, but not over- the-top, cabernet from a rather hot, dry, year, if I remember correctly. There is just a trace of something animal-like in the bouquet now that was not there in earlier bottles. I suspect the end is fairly near. I only now have one bottle left, and I likely will drink it fairly soon.
