That's a farkin shame, Dale. IIRC, in an early tasting of many wines from '83, this wine was a candidate for WOTV.
Hey!! I actually own all three of these. That's such a rare experience for me when reading your, Bill's, John's and Jim's Bdx notes that I just had to strut a bit ;-)
Hope you get well soon, Mark

I've had better bottles of the '86 Lynch, I think this one was slightly off. Good bottles of either Lynch probably need time. I'm not sure that the '89 P-B needs much in the way of time, based on this bottle. cheers!

I do not grade using your system, but if I did I likely would rate the
70 Mouton about as you do. It is no 82, to say nothing of 45, but still it is quite good. I have several bottles that have been stored correctly since release. This wine was slower to mature than many other 70s. With correct storage, I expect it to last many more years. I really have not noticed stink, but I find the wine just a bit heavy and lacking a bit of complexity compared with the best Mouton. Of course at 35+ years, storage is all important. In tasting of wine of this age, you never know if tasting impressions are due to differences in individual's taste or due to bottle variation.- Vote on answer

This was one of the wines served at my son's wedding dinner just two years ago, courtesy of his father-in-law (described by Michael Broadbent as "...modest owner of a fine cellar"). Unfortunately, the occasion was so overwhelming that one could not do a thoughtful assessment of the wine. Nevertheless, I recall it drank very well.

Mark, Couple of members of this group who had more experience with the '89 Baron (my only previous try I can recall was corked) felt this was an off bottle, that it should be young. So no hurry.
