TN: '98 Clavel 'Les Garrigues'

Feb 24, 2006 0 Replies

Opened tonight with a dinner of "St Louis ribs."

c: dark garnet with no browning at the edges n: minerals, cherry, blackberry and -- yes -- garrigue p: medium-full body, acid, fruit, pencil lead, slightly tannic finish

Perhaps we were inspired to open this by Dale's recent mention of the '98 Copa Santa. (Actually, Jean wanted something from S. France to go with the ribs and this came to the top of the heap). It comes across as either a lighter CdP or a top notch CdR, with just a hint of meatiness. No hint of new oak in this puppy, and it's got years left ahead of it.
